The Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal, a non profit organization which operates medical clinics at Pheriche and Manang began conducting a medical clinic at Everest Base Camp in spring 2003, staffed by physicians with previous high altitude experience.

 
 
 
 
 
   

HRA Provided Medical Support to Cabinet Meeting held at Kalapathar

Hon’ble Prime Minister, Madhav Kumar Nepal led government held a historical Cabinet Meeting at Kalapathar (5281 m.) on December 4, 2009. There were altogether 24 Cabinet members including Prime Minister. The main objective of this meeting was to draw the attention of the International Community, as the effects were seen on Himalayas due to the climate change.

The HRA got the responsibility to provide medical support to all the Cabinet Ministers, Media persons and organizers. So, it was a great challenge for HRA to save the life of VVIP’s in the Himalayas. A 8 members team including 3 doctors 3 medical assistants as well as Chairman, Bikram Neupane  & Chief Executive, Prakash Adhikari were involved for the Medical Mission. The HRA managed to set up medical camps at Shyangboche and Kalapathar. Medical team checked up all the cabinet members before their fly to Kalapathar and had allow them to go with oxygen cylinder. Fortunately, no one were severely ill. All the Ministers & every team member returned Kathmandu safe & sound.
