The Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal (HRA) is a voluntary non-profit organization established in 1973 with an objective to reduce the casualties in the Nepal Himalaya, especially keeping in view that the increasing number of Nepalese and foreign trekkers into the remote wilderness. HRA has been providing medical services with the help of volunteer doctors at Manang (3550m.) on the way to round Annapurna and Pheriche (4250m.) en route to Everest Base Camp. Since 2003, HRA has been running a medical camp at Everest Base Camp in every spring season. HRA also conducts a temporary health camp at Gosaikunda during the Janaipurnima festival since 1997.
